Shaving 101 – Gel, Foam or Cream?

When I first started shaving, there was no one to guide me. So here’s a little segment on shaving products –

SHAVING GELS

WHY :

  • Works best for shaving newbies and guys in a hurry.
  • Keeps the skin hydrated throughout the shaving session.
  • Most are low-foaming so you get to see what you’re shaving, best for sideburns.

HOW :

  • Damp the skin with some water.
  • Apply a blob of gel in to the palm of your hand with a drop of water.
  • Rub it for a few seconds on the skin in circular motions.
  • Use a shaving brush for extra rich lather.

SHAVING FOAMS

WHY :

  • Economical, but be careful as the cheaper ones can dry your skin a lot.
  • Good for guys with oily skin.
  • Ones formulated with skin-soothing aloe vera are best for sensitive skin.

HOW :

  • Damp the skin with some water.
  • Apply a blob of foam, the size of a golf ball in to the palm of your hand.
  • Rub it for a few seconds on the skin.
  • You might have to use more foam during the process as it tends to dry out.
